    This boneyard is on Dja Dja Wurrung land, in the Wombat State Forest.
    Fans of Australian music, here lies the great Spencer P Jones, guitarist with The Beasts Of Bourbon, guest on many other artists recordings, and solo artist. Just about every working musician in Melbourne met Spence or saw him play, and everyone has a story. He was a friendly, funny guy the times I met him, so I went to pay my respects where he rests in this tiny forest town a little more than an hour out of Melbourne, hidden on the edge of a huge state forest, on the Lerderderg River.

    The cemetery is old, small, and looked after. There was an older gent there mowing the grass when I visited. According to the sign at entrance the boneyard has been there since 1855 "when gold attracted thousands of people to the area" There is a whole section of Chinese graves at the back of the field, from the gold rush years, but many are overgrown and deteriorating, probably because these were individuals passing through who didn't leave a family behind to tend their grave.

    Blackwood is a tiny town, but it does have a pub and a couple of shops. I got an excellent vegie pastie. I'll go back when I get the chance and stay a couple of days and explore one or two forest walks.

    Interesting old grave yard . This grave has a long long history. Many of the graves go back to the early mining days, what people don’t know is there are many unmarked graves of the Chinese who were there , this grave yard has rumours that not all in there Rest In Peace
